A headline-making Prohibition Era scandal and tragedy hit the front page in the late summer of 1932, dragging on over a year, and involving two murders, a brutal beating of an inmate by Tazewell County Jail staff, a long legal drama, culminating in an attempt to impeach the Tazewell County Sheriff.
